Collision Repair in Hartville, Ohio

After an accident, the dent is the easy part. The hard part is knowing what got damaged behind the panel, what the insurance company will cover, and who's supposed to call whom. What's covered

What collision repair covers at Pete's Auto.

Accident damage from the first estimate through panel work, paint, reassembly, and the claim paperwork.

Damage estimates

Free written damage estimates with photos, itemized so you and your carrier are looking at the same list.

Hidden damage inspection

What is behind the bumper cover, inside the door, and under the panel, which is routinely more than what shows in the driveway.

Bumper repair and replacement

Covers, absorbers, brackets, and the reinforcement bar behind them.

Panel repair and replacement

Fenders, doors, quarter panels, hoods, and hatches, repaired where they can be and replaced where they cannot.

Frame and structural inspection

Frame measurement and straightening, plus checking that gaps and closures line up the way they did before the hit.

Paint matching and blending

Color matched to the vehicle as it is now, blended into the adjacent panels so the repair does not stand out in daylight.

Refinishing and clear coat

Prep, primer, base, and clear so the new finish lasts.

Lighting and bumper-mounted equipment

Headlight and tail light assemblies, and the parking sensors, cameras, and grille sensors that live behind a bumper cover.

Glass damaged in the collision

Windshield and window replacement handled as part of the repair, so it’s not a separate errand for you.

Mechanical check after the impact

Steering, suspension, and alignment take the hit in a lot of collisions even when the outside damage looks minor.

Insurance documentation

Photo documentation, itemized estimates, carrier communication, and repair invoices written so an adjuster can follow them.

Cleanup before pickup

Detail work so the vehicle comes back clean, not covered in sanding dust.

Signs you need this

What drivers describe when they call about collision.

You don't need the right words for it. Tell us what the vehicle is doing and when it does it. Call (330) 587-4311 or use the form at the bottom of this page.

  • Someone backed into me in a parking lot and the bumper cover is cracked.

  • The door still opens but there is a gap at the top that was not there before.

  • The hood does not line up with the fender anymore.

  • The car pulls to one side since the accident.

  • The paint is scraped down to bare metal along one whole side.

  • A deer came out on a township road and took out the front end.

  • The bumper looks alright but the parking sensors quit working.

  • My insurance company sent me an estimate and I want a shop to look at the car.

  • There is a rattle inside the door since it got hit.

  • The trunk will not latch right after being rear-ended.

What to expect

What happens when you bring the vehicle in.

  1. Bring the vehicle and whatever claim information you have

The carrier name, the claim number, and the adjuster contact if a claim is already open. If you haven’t filed yet, that’s fine. The estimate can come first.

  2. We write up the damage, including what you can’t see

We photograph and itemize the visible damage, then look behind it. A cracked bumper cover often hides a bent bracket, a broken headlight tab, or a damaged sensor.

  3. You and your carrier see the same repair plan

Parts, paint, and labor get documented and sent to the adjuster. If we find something else once the panel comes off, we write it up as a supplement and you hear about it then, not at pickup.

  4. Repair, paint, reassemble, and clean it up

We repair or replace the panels, match and blend the paint, put the vehicle back together, and check the lights, sensors, and how everything lines up before we call you.

Questions

Collision Repair FAQs

Do I have to use the shop my insurance company recommends?

No. In Ohio you choose the repair shop. A carrier can recommend one from its network, and you’re free to take the vehicle wherever you want it repaired. Tell your adjuster which shop is doing the work and the paperwork follows the vehicle.

Is the damage estimate free?

Yes. Bring the vehicle to the shop in Hartville. If it isn’t safe to drive, send photos and the vehicle details first. Either way you get a written estimate to work from.

Will the new paint match the rest of the car?

That’s what blending is for. Paint fades with age and sun, so mixing the factory code alone can leave a panel that’s technically correct and still looks newer. We match the color to the vehicle as it is now and blend it into the neighboring panels so there’s no line down the side of the car.

What happens if more damage is found after the teardown?

We photograph it, write it up as a supplement to the original estimate, and send it to your carrier for approval before doing the additional work. Finding more damage behind a panel is normal in collision work.

Should I file a claim or pay out of pocket?

That’s your call, and it depends on your deductible and what the repair involves. Get the written estimate first. You can’t weigh a deductible against a number you don’t have yet.

Can you deal with my insurance company for me?

We handle the repair side: photos, the itemized estimate, supplements, and invoices, in the format an adjuster works from. Your policy, your deductible, and your coverage stay between you and your carrier. Those are your decisions.
